Biotherapeutic Development and Delivery LaboratorySteven M. Jay
Associate Professor, Fischell Department of Bioengineering University of Maryland, College Park 3116 A. James Clark Hall 301-405-2829 [email protected] |
Our research aims to uncover new biological insights towards the design, production, and delivery of biotherapeutics. We are particularly interested in cell-derived products from both humans and bacteria, especially extracellular vesicles (EVs, including exosomes) and bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs, including outer membrane vesicles (OMVs)), as well as engineered protein therapeutics and others. We strive to develop new drug delivery and biomanufacturing approaches using fundamental tools from both engineering and biology to address clinical needs across a wide spectrum of applications. Overarching goals of the lab include developing therapeutics towards clinical translation and endowing trainees with the skills and knowledge necessary to become leaders in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
