Graduate Students
We are willing to consider interested graduate students from any department, although our primary consideration will be of students in the BIOE graduate program. We are also affiliated with the MOCB concentration within the BISI graduate program. Both BIOE and BISI graduate students must first be accepted into their respective graduate programs at UMD (admissions info below) before joining a lab, although interested BISI students may benefit from establishing contact prior to applying. Interested applicants should plan to apply by the deadline listed at the following links:

Undergraduates
Undergraduates at UMD willing and able to spend at least 10 hours/week in lab can contact Dr. Jay ([email protected]) and should submit a CV and statement of interest as a single PDF. We consider undergraduates from all departments and look seriously at students in their sophomore year who plan to commit to staying with our lab during the academic year until graduation. Independent study for credit and completion of an undergraduate thesis are highly encouraged. For those interested in summer opportunities, we look for students who can commit to volunteer full time for 2 summers (typically after sophomore and junior years). Undergraduate opportunities are subject to availability of graduate and postdoctoral mentors.
